Montgomery- The Montgomery Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Celebration Planning Committee is proud to announce the 2022 schedule of events slated to begin January 13-17. This year’s celebration theme is “A Time to build…”  The planned array will celebrate Dr. King's legacy of justice, peace, and equality. 

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Weekend Celebration is hosted by Alabama State Senator Kirk Hatcher and Alabama State Representative Kenyatte Hassell, Montgomery Mayor Steven L. Reed, and supported by the MLK Day Montgomery Committee, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

All weekend events will commemorate the remarkable leader's advocacy for racial equality, voting rights, economic justice, and international peace. The celebration will acknowledge Montgomery as the birthplace of the civil rights movement and promote collaboration throughout the river region. This year’s events include
